Iggy Pop Postpones Two Shows Complaining Of Vocal Issues

Iggy Pop announced over the weekend that he was rescheduling two shows on his European tour due to vocal problems.

The 75-year-old punk rock icon was apparently frustrated with the way he "croaked" through his July 2 show in Athens, Greece, and decided to push his shows Tuesday and Thursday to August 30 and September 2, respectively.

Pop said in a statement that is voice is still recovering from whatever went wrong during the Athens gig. He won't get onstage knowing that he can't perform up to his capabilities.

"I have not taken this decision lightly," he said. "I love my fans. But I must protect my voice. I'm so sorry, but I'll come back and make it up to you."

Pop's resolve to rest up before taking the stage again comes as other famous rockers several years his junior have been dragged online for coming up short vocally in concert ... or accused of not really singing at all.

Iggy Pop's European tour resumes on July 21. His next U.S. performance is not until the Desery Daze festival Sept. 30 - Oct. 2.
