Dave Grohl returned to the stage over the weekend for the first time since March to perform with Paul McCartney at the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival.

Grohl joined McCartney late in Macca's headlining set to perform The Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There" and Wings' "Band on the Run."

"I swear, I would never miss being right here with you, right now," a typically jovial Grohl said after being introduced.

Grohl exited to an uproar, only to be replaced by another icon and McCartney pal, Bruce Springsteen. With The Boss, McCartney performed the Lennon-McCartney tune "I Wanna Be Your Man" and Springsteen's "Glory Days." (Springsteen joined McCartney onstage just over a week ago in New Jersey.)

Grohl and Springsteen later returned for McCartney's encore to help his band with "The End."

For Grohl, the performance was his first since March 25 — the Foo Fighters' last gig before Taylor Hawkins' tragic death in Colombia. It also marks one of his first public appearances since the Foo Fighters announces a pair of tribute shows for Hawkins in London September 3 and Los Angeles September 27.

The Foos shows will be emotional and star-packed, with guests including members of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Brian May, Roger Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Liam Gallagher, Wolfgang Van Halen and many others.
