Carlos Santana to Celebrate 'Supernatural' Album, Woodstock This Summer

Carlos Santana is going to spend this coming summer celebrating the anniversaries of two of the biggest moments of his career: Woodstock and his 1999 hit album, Supernatural

The 29-date Supernatural Now tour will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Santana's career-launching Woodstock performance and the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking album of pop collaborations, Supernatural.

"Woodstock and Supernatural took me to place I never dreamed were possible," Santana said via a press release. "I embraced those incredible moments in my life with all my heart. Both were supreme lessons in maintaining focus, heart and integrity in every step every day and to strive to better oneself with a high standard on and off the stage."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer went on to thank Bill Graham and Clive Davis for helping to shape his career.

Regarding Supernatural, which produced back-to-back No. 1 hits with "Smooth" and "Maria Maria," Santana recalled feeling like he was on to something but couldn't believe how many people the album eventually reached.

On Woodstock, Santana says that to this day he clearly remembers the acid-fueled intimacy he experienced with the audience, his band and the music during his set.

"At one point the guitar turned into an electric snake, twisting and turning," he recalled. "I kept willing the snake not to move and praying that it stayed in tune. By the time we played 'Soul Sacrifice,' I was able to breathe and focus, and the band crystalized as one."

With Doobie Brothers on hand as main support, the tour kicks off June 22 in Arizona and concludes August 25 on Long Island in New York.

Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning January 25 via LiveNation.com.

The Supernatural Now setlist will include tracks from both the Woodstock and Supernatural eras of Santana's career, plus songs from a forthcoming EP, In Search of Mona Lisa, which is due out January 25.
